The possibility one to die while in hypnosis is the same as the possibility one to die while watching TV, listening to the radio, cooking or cleaning, sleeping or resting, practicing some sports, drinking coffee with friends or doing whatever else in your daily round.
myth: Hypnotherapy requires a state of deep trance and there is always loss of memories as a result of the hypnosis itself.
truth: In most cases it is used light or average level of hypnosis and deep trance is not even reached.
myth: There is a risk of not “waking up” after hypnosis.
truth: There is not even a minimal risk of that to happen. If for some reason you are left during hypnosis by the hypnotist, the process will either go into a natural dream (in case that you are very tired), after which you will wake up or you will go out of that state soon after the hypnotists stops talking.
myth: You will remember nothing of what has happened during hypnosis.
truth: In a state of light or average level of hypnosis you are completely aware of what is happening during and after hypnosis. In hypnosis you are with a clearer mind than when awake. In a deep state of hypnosis the phenomenon amnesia may occur. The consciousness itself chooses whether to remember or not – this is your choice, but if you want, you will remember everything.
